I bought this safe for my long guns and it's definitely adequate for the purpose of keeping my guns safe from the kids. The double key lock is very secure and the construction of the locker (it's really a locker not a "safe") is very sturdy as is the mounting hardware for the wall. The fit for my 28" barrel 12 gauge is very tight. I have to tilt it diagonally to fit the barrel under the metal shelf that's fitted at the top of the unit. After that it rests nicely in the barrel bracket. My biggest complaint with assembly was the foam padding. This padding, designed to keep my guns from getting scratched had some kind of industrial glue on the back and it would have looked comical for someone to watch me try to install it as it stuck to my fingers and everything it touched (think a fly caught in fly paper). I'd recommend the manufacturer just install the foam instead of trusting a knucklehead like me to do it. If you buy this, just get some double stick tape from Home Depot and adhere the foam with it rather than peeling off the foam backing. Trust me.

nice storage for the cost. Be careful as cabinet will tilt or fall if not anchor to the wall securely.

pre-glue foam pads are very sticky. Once applied to the cabinet, it's very difficult to remove those pads from inside the cabinet.

"sturdy security cabinet, but packing could be better" 2009-12-09

This is a sturdy security cabinet and was what I needed. There are pre-drilled mounting holes on the bottom and the back so it can be secured to a wall, the floor, or another cabinet. It includes the bolts, screws, and washers needed for mounting it. The shelf is metal (other ones I looked at had plastic shelves). Mine arrived with a dent the size of a marble in the top of it. It was only protected by a thin piece of styrofoam. It also had a safety label on the front that was hard to remove without leaving a sticky mess behind. It would be nice if it was a little bigger, but this was the closest thing I could find to what I had in mind. I'm satisfied with the cabinet and the price.

This thing is great for the money. I have a number of hand guns in mine. I tell the wife it is six or so. You could fit more if you got a rack to store them vertically. Each shelf has foam padding. I added some cheap LED stick-up lights to help me see in the dark. The lock has a tubular key so it is rather secure. It also has two latching points so a pry bar attack will be hard. I went to the local locksmith to get a few more keys. Yes, 4 bucks each, but not bad! All in all a great deal for secure gun storage.
